ULYSSES, PA – In the new installment of the Terrors, the Otto-Eldred boy’s basketball continued their winning tradition, posting a North Tier League win over Northern Potter to open the season, beating the Panthers 45-36.

Coming back to the hardwood with a completely new starting lineup and head coach, O-E hit the ground running with consistency leading the way. Opening the game with 10 first-quarter points, in which Mason Rees knocked down a pair of triples, the Terrors kept their foot on the pedal, tallying double-digit scoring in each of the following three quarters. As the game entered the second half, physicality ensued, allowing O-E to seal their season-opening win with stellar work at the free throw line.

Leading the Terrors was Michael Sheeler, who finished with 16 points while Wyatt Blendinger posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Jack Sherry helped clean the glass with eight boards, scoring seven points alongside Mason Schenfield’s five rebounds and five assists.

On Wednesday, O-E comes home to the Terror Dome, where they will host Port Allegany. That game is slated for a 7 p.m. start.

KANE, PA – Overwhelmed by a flurry of opposing offense early, the Hubbers opened their season with a road loss to the Wolves.

Christening their home court, Kane exploded in the first quarter, with scoring coming from a variety of options. In total, seven Wolves made their way into the scoring column as Smethport sputtered out of the gates, being outscored 26-2. Although they slowly found their footing, managing a 12-point third quarter, the lead was far from reach, resulting in the first defeat of the season being settled by a 32-point margin.

Colin Okerlund led the Hubbers in scoring, hitting a pair of 3-pointers and finishing with ten points, while Colin Riekofsky ended with six.

Next, Smethport stays on the road for their first North Tier League game of the season. That contest, against Otto-Eldred in the opening day of the Terrors’ home tournament, will take place on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Kane 57, Port Allegany 45

PORT ALLEGANY, PA – Despite Peyton Gordon’s 20-point season debut, the Lady Gators were unable to contain Kane’s own star, Addison Haight, who dropped 37 en route to handing Port a loss in front of their home crowd.

The Lady Gators hit the hardwood strong, with Brynn Evens knocking down a trio of triples as they pulled ahead with a seven-point lead after the first quarter. However, as their offense cooled off in the second, Kane responded. After hitting two in the first, Haight connected on another pair of 3-pointers as the Lady Wolves took over. Entering halftime, Kane held a one-point advantage that ultimately grew out of reach for Port in the third quarter.

As Haight hit her fifth, sixth and seventh triple of the game, Kane outscored Port 20-4 out of the half, all but sealing the final outcome. Although Gordon put her team on her shoulders in the fourth, scoring 10 of the Lady Gators’ 13 points, her rally was not enough to strike a comeback.

Alongside Gordon’s 20, Evens ended with nine points and eight rebounds, while Jenna Renner contributed 10 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

On Thursday, Port Allegany will leave the Swamp for a matchup in the Terror Dome, where they will take on the Lady Terrors at 7:15 p.m.

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA – With defense leading the way, the Lady Terrors kicked off their new campaign with a blowout NTL win over the Lady Green Wave.

Immediately after the tip, O-E put on the clamps, holding OV to just five points throughout the first two half. On the other side of the court, the Lady Terrors offense shook off a rather slow start themselves, scoring just six points in the first quarter, to explode in the second. With six Lady Terrors making their way into the scoring column, three of them connecting on long range shots, O-E entered halftime up 30-5. In the final two quarters, the Lady Terrors cruised to their first win of the season.

Alya Van Scoter’s season debut produced a game-high of 17 points where she also came away with three steals and six assists. Jahden Smith had five steals and three assists while scoring seven points. Balyee Francis had 10 points alongside Rayel Hakes’ seven points and three steals.
