Olean- Raymond W. Borowski, of Olean, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in the very same home where he was born, a place that remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Ray was born in Olean on June 7, 1929, the son of the late Michael and Viola Sowinski Borowski. On September 20, 1958, in the Transfiguration Church in Olean, he married the former Genevieve Wallon, who survives.

A graduate of Port Allegany High School, Ray went on to earn an engineering degree from Alfred University and later worked as an Engineer for Cutco/Alcas in Olean. He joined the United States Army and served from January 1955 to December 1956. Passionate about health care, Ray also served on the Board of Directors of Olean General Hospital.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Genevieve; his children, Margaret Sylvestri of North Carolina, Robert Borowski of South Carolina, and James Borowski of Pennsylvania; 8 grandchildren; and a brother, Michael Borowski of Florida.

He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Viola, and a sister, Diane Borowski Riggle.

The family will hold a private burial in St. Bonaventure Cemetery at their convenience.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St, Olean.
