David J. Gumtow of 395 Sanford Hollow Road, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at the Olean General Hospital, following an illness.
David was born October 19, 1955 in Olean and was the son of William Frederick and Mary J. Daley Gumtow Jr. On July 4, 1979 at the Christ United Methodist Church in Olean he married Kimala M. Johnson who survives.
David was a 1973 graduate of Olean High School. In 1978 he began working at St. Bonaventure University in the kitchen and retired in 2021 after about 40 years as a cook.
David enjoyed collecting rocks, walking and watching NHL hockey especially the New York Islanders.
Along with his loving wife Kimala, David is survived by; 2 sons, Derek (Elizabeth Sciortino) Gumtow of Franklinville and Joshua A. Gumtow of Little Genesee; 3 grandchildren, Sidney and twins, Archer and Hannah; 2 siblings, Mike (Lynn) Gumtow and Jon (Marcia) Gumtow both of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by; his parents; and a sister, Barbara Mohr on September 10, 2022.
