Tuesday Roundup: Mangold shines in return; Olean XC takes silver

FRANKLIN, PA – In her return from injury, Alyssa Mangold dominated the pitch. Coming away with six goals, she led the Bradford girl’s soccer team to 7-0 win over Franklin.

Maddy Rimer scored the lone other goal for the Lady Owls, also posting two assists. Cami Sheely ended with a team-high three assists in the night while Harmony Schneider and Adeline Meyer each had one. Madi Stark had two saves as Bradford improved to 9-6 on the season. 

Boys Soccer

Ellicottville 8, Salamanca 0

SALAMANCA, NY – Fighting the Eagles as well as the weather, the Warriors picked up their fifth consecutive loss. 

Dropping to 1-12 overall and 1-6 in the CCAA Division II standings, Salamanca next faces Pine Valley/Gowanda on Thursday. That game, which will be played in Pine Valley, is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start.

Salamanca 72, Franklinville 30

SALAMANCA, NY – The Warriors improved to 7-2-1 behind 17 personal best times against Franklinville.

Julianna Smith led Salamanca, doubling in the 50 and 100 free. Addison Follman shaved 51 seconds off her time in the 500 free, coming in first while Kynleigh Wass won the 100 back and was second in the 100 fly, both of which were personal records. 

The Warriors swept all three relays on the day. Vada Bucktooth, Lily John, Ella Marten and Addi Follman took gold in the 200 medley relay while Lori Pierce, John, Hutchison and Charli Ross took first in the 200 free relay. Smith, Hutchison, Ross and Kyla Hardy teamed up to win the 400 relay.

Varsity Girls: Frewsburg 45, Maple Grove 51, Olean 54, Randolph 78

Varsity Boys: Maple Grove 15, Olean 50, Frewsburg N/A, Randolph N/A

OLEAN, NY – Led by four combined finishes in the top 10, the Huskies took silver and gold in the field of four teams.

May Eaton led Olean on the day, finishing first overall in the girl’s varsity race with a time of 20:54. Kinley Belleisle (21:19) came in fourth while Rachael Dulmus (21:34) crossed the finish line three spots later. 

For the boys, Maple Grove stacked the best 10 spots, claiming seven of the best eight. However, Cruz Clark took tenth with a time of 18:35. Declan Boutillette finished not far behind, taking 12th at 19:25. 

Varsity Boys: CSP 20, Gowanda 54, Allegany-Limestone 63

Varsity Girls: CSP 18, Gowanda 47, Allegany-Limestone 59 

Nolan Wilczewski led the Gators in their tri-meet, taking first overall despite two bronze finishes overall. 

Wilczewski beat the other 26 runners in the boys varsity race, completing the course with a time of 17:35, 20 seconds faster than the next runner. Aiden Grimes (24:23) came in 17th while Ronin Haseley (26:01) ended in 18th. 

In the girl’s race, Abby Higgins led A-L, coming in fourth with a time of 22:07. Lila Sheehy finished in seventh at 23:21 and Aralyn Jennings rounded out the top ten at 25:11.
