WATERBURY, CT — The St. Bonaventure women’s soccer team is officially up and running for the season after picking up a 5-0 win over Div. II Post University on the road on Aug. 31.
At the center of all the action was Giovanna Coghetto, who netted a hat trick for the Bonnies. Her first two goals, coming in the 26th and 27th minutes were Bona’s first of the afternoon. Hannah Lindenberger, scoring her first goal of the season, put the Bonnies up by three just before the half. Coghetto then completed her hat trick in the 59th minute, bringing her tally for the campaign up to four, and Daniela Bruna Ribeiro de Souza put the game on ice with her first goal of the year in the 84th minute.
Hannah Smith, Nayelle Heredia, Ribeiro de Souza and Coghetto each picked up assists on the afternoon as well.
Next up for the Bonnies is a game away from home at Cleveland State on Sept. 7 at 1 p.m.
Girls Soccer
Wellsboro 2, Port Allegany 0
WELLSBORO, PA – The Lady Gators suffered their second loss of the season, dropping to the undefeated Lady Scots.
After 40 scoreless minutes, Wellsboro broke the game open with two late goals coming from Luna Moyer and Hailey Smith. In goal for Port, Hannah Taylor came away with nine saves.
Eden 2, Salamanca 0
SALAMANCA, NY – The Lady Warriors fell to 0-2 as they fell to Eden for the second time in three days.
After traveling to take on the Knights in hostile territory on Wednesday, ultimately losing 2-1, Salamanca then took the battle to their home field. However, they would see the same outcome as Eden shutout the Warriors in front of their home fans.

LATROBE, PA – The Panthers opened their season with back-to-back road games, starting their campaign with a draw and a loss.
On Saturday, Pitt-Bradford hit the ground running with a first-half goal from Bailee Verdill, assisted by Conner Rudsell and Brady Hathaway. Despite holding onto their lead through the majority of the second half, Valley Forge struck back in the 87th minute with a goal from Edras Turcios-Valle. Through the overtime period, neither could repeat the feat, ending the Panthers’ first game in a stalemate. In goal, Christopher House came away with one save.
The next day, Pitt-Bradford traveled to face the Bearcats, who got to work early as they scored in the first six minutes. They then added to their lead right before the halftime break, building a 2-0 lead that held for the entire second half of play.
