OLEAN — The Church Without Walls is making a last push this week for sneakers and donations for its signature community outreach project — Feet Heat Six.
“It’s part of our church’s mission,” Pastor Tyrone Hall told the Oelan Star on Monday. The mission is to make sure area children have some quality footwear to start the upcoming school year.
The Feet Heat distribution is this Sunday at the Church Without Walls (CWOW), 1803 W. State St. With the addition of a free haircut this year, “We’ve got you covered head to toe,” Hall said.
Church starts at 10 a.m., he said. Those who are in the church for worship get served first. “Run to Jesus” has always been the message. Afterward, the sneakers are distributed.
“People have been very supportive and we thank them,” Hall said. “We’ve had a lot of sneakers dropped off at the church and at the barber shop. He owns Hall of Fame Barber Shop, 309 W. State St.
This last-minute push is a reminder that there are only a few days left to donate a pair of sneakers or a check or Venmo donation to make sure there’s time at the end of the week to buy more sneakers in sizes that will be needed, Hall said.
Some of the sizes that are still needed include boys and girls toddler sizes 1-3 and youth men’s and women’s sizes 8-9 and men’s sizes 6 and 9.
