Gowanda, NY – Barbara McGuire Huber, 94, of Gowanda, NY passed away August 11, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, NY.
She was born December 15, 1930 in Groveton, NH the daughter of the late Harry and Rilma (Prince) McGuire.
Mrs. Huber was a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Air Force from approximately 1950 -1954 as a Teletype Operator at the Pentagon with an out of country assignment in Newfoundland, Canada.
She worked at Gowanda Electronics for many years and was a member of the Gowanda Moose Club. She was an excellent cook especially for large gatherings, and loved to dance and listen to music. Her hobbies included cake decorating, ceramics, crocheting, reading, and solving Sudoku and word search puzzles.
Mrs. Huber is survived by her loving husband of 43 years George Huber of Gowanda, NY. Also surviving are her four daughters Bethany Karcher of North Conway, NH, Carla Pitts of Las Vegas, NV, Desiree Rowe (Mark Ammons) of Pensacola, FL and Alicia Basile of Gowanda, NY, a stepson Doug Huber of Gowanda, NY, a stepdaughter Brenda Huber of Gowanda, NY. Her surviving grandchildren are Stacey (Patrick) Smith, Darek Piolunek, Melody Pitts, Tessa Adams, Joshua Ammons, Mark D. Ammons, Weslynn Ammons, and several great grandchildren, her brother Dean McGuire of Fall River, MA, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.Also surviving brother in law and sister in law Anita (Ernie) Clareus of Gowanda, NY
She was predeceased by seven siblings: Forrest MaGuire, Bethany Gould, Belva King, John McGuire, Gloria Nugent, Gary McGuire, James McGuire. She is also predeceased by her granddaughter in law Susan (Moore) Piolunek.
