Olean – Carol L. Everitt, formerly of Portville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Olean General Hospital with her loving family by her side after a short illness.
Born in Olean on May 8, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John and Naomi (Covert) Harrier. On Dec. 31, 1962, in Portville, she married William H. Everitt Sr., who predeceased her Dec. 28, 2008.
Carol graduated from Portville in 1961. She worked for the former L’Alcove Restaurant and Weston’s Shoppers City. She enjoyed baking cookies at Christmas, making sure to send some for her daughter’s coworkers at the Olean General. She was especially known for her farfalle cookies. Carol loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, whether it was fixing a meal, making sure there were plenty of leftovers, playing card games, or just visiting. She also enjoyed doing her puzzle books.
Carol is survived by her four children, Patricia (Keven) Neal of Olean, Kim (Kelly) Schauer of Portville, William (Karen) Everitt Jr. of Olean, and John Everitt of Olean; four grandchildren, Henry Schauer, Bill Everitt, Alana Everitt, and Lillyana Everitt; one sister, June Fitzpatrick; two brothers, John (Diane) Harrier, and Ronald (Linda) Harrier; a brother-in-law, Lynn Griffith; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Drs’ Ahmed and Naheed Hilal.
She was predeceased by her husband William, her parents, John and Naomi, and a sister, Juanita Griffith.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home, 1303 E. State St., Olean. Funeral and committal services will be held in the funeral home, Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. Pastor Charles Munk will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Portville.
