OLEAN, NY – After dropping the first game of the series, the Smethport VFW took home the 2025 Olean Women’s Slow-Pitch Softball Championship with a win over Randy’s Up the River, claiming a 7-4 with a strong start and finish.
In game one of the A bracket, Randy opened up strong out of the gates, scoring five runs that included a two-run homer from Alyssa Ramarge. While Smethport would refuse to be shut out, their response came in the form of a single run. The two teams would battle it out from then on, scoring in bursts, however, Smethport was unable to pull ahead, instead losing 8-4.
In game two, however, it would be Smethport that came out swinging. After scoring five unanswered runs of their own through the first two innings, they would insulate their lead and preserve their title run with two more in the sixth, holding off Randys, who scored four runs in the fifth and seventh.
Teagan Kosinski ended 3-for-4 for Smethport, also tallying two home runs in the win while Karly Welty, Mallory Welty, Courtney MacNeal, Amber Nelson and Kamryn Cook each finished with two hits. For Randys, Ramarge continued to put the ball in play, ending 3-for-4 alongside Nicole Calbi, Juleesa Sledge and Bryn Milne, who all tallied two hits.
B Bracket
The 716 Fitness Ice Cold Pitchers took home the 2025 championship with a win over Angees.
Hannah Lathrop ended a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBIs while Sophia Aiello and Courtney McCutcheon combined for two RBIs and three hits.
For Angees, Ashley Erslaine, Brandi Buttino, Reagan Kenny and Torey Cassidy all came away with a hit.
