OLEAN, NY — Going into it’s 89th year of existence, the annual Southwestern New York-Northwestern Pennsylvania Men’s Amateur is set to begin following the release of this year’s tee times.
The competition on the links this year is both stiff and vast, with 137 golfers — the fifth largest field ever in the tournament’s history — taking to the greens. That number includes 121 paid registrations alongside 16 qualifying Penn-York golfers who were added to the competition free of charge.
The tournament begins on Wednesday a regular 18-hole round before the competitors are grouped into individual brackets. The top 32 golfers will enter the Championship bracket, followed by the next 32 in the first flight. Moving down the line, each other bracket will consist of the best 16 remaining. The tournament culminates on Sunday with the final round.
