Janet Travis, 82, of Great Valley, NY died Monday, July 28, 2025 at the Salamanca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.

Born June 30, 1943 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Shirley Stephens Steinbroner.

She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1961.

Janet had been employed as a bookkeeper most of her life with H&R Block, Holiday Valley, and the former Salamanca Moose Club. While residing in Florida, she worked as a registration clerk at the Alden Hotel, St. Pete Beach, FL.

She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader and she will be remembered for attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. She was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan.

Surviving are: a daughter, Melissa Travis, Pittsburg, PA; two sons, Jon Paul (Ann) Travis, Steven City, VA, Ernest Travis Jr., formerly of Colorado; her longtime companion, Charles Grinols, Great Valley, NY; a stepdaughter, Tammy (Rick Brett) Hamilton, NC; two stepsons, Charlie Grinols, Timothy Grinols, both of Great Valley, NY; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister; Lois Smith, Los Angeles, CA.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Anne Despues and Nancy Wogick, and a brother, Richard Steinbroner.

There will be no visitation.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
