Allegany- Lawrence Arthur Higby of Allegany passed away Monday, July 14, 2025, at the VA Medical Center of Buffalo, unexpectedly after a long illness.

Larry was born in Olean on May 19, 1947, the son of the late Vernon and Elizabeth (Little) Higby.

Larry was a graduate of Cuba Rushford High School. Upon graduation, he joined and served two and a half years in the United States Army and was deployed to Vietnam during that time. He worked for over 40 years in the car industry as a salesman, most notably at Rick Bokman’s. Larry was a board member of the St. Stephen’s Club and an intense sports fan, especially of the New York Yankees.

He is survived by his sons, Lawrence, Leonard (Gwen), and Lon (Catherine) Higby; 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Larry was predeceased by his brothers, Mark and Vernon, and his sister, Annette.

There will be a Celebration of Larry’s Life, August 9, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the charity of the donors’ choosing.
