Sheldon E. Smith, 32, of Salamanca, NY, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, July 10, 2025 at the Great Valley Town Hall, Great Valley, NY.

Born July 28, 1992 in Olean, NY, he was the son of Barry and Kathleen Giblin Smith, Salamanca, NY.

He was a graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 2011.

Sheldon had been employed with Allegany LLC, Salamanca, NY over the last year.

He enjoyed the outdoors, cooking out and bonfires with friends, hiking, and long car rides. He was a Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan. He will be remembered as a foodie who was willing to travel long distances to eat well. He was proud to be clean and sober for the last eight years. Sheldon’s passion was to help others.

Surviving besides his parents are: a daughter, Sophia Baker, Hinsdale, NY; a brother, Alexander Smith, Little Genesee, NY; maternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Giblin, Gerry, NY; paternal grandmother, Shirley Smith, Clear Creek, NY; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brother, Dylan M. Smith and maternal grandfather, Joseph Giblin.

There will be no visitation.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 10, 2025 beginning at 1pm at the Kill Buck Firemans Park, Kill Buck, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to CCSE Federal Credit Union, c/o Laurie Hunt, 417 Broad Street, Salamanca, NY 14779.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
