Olean- Gloria J. Smith, of Olean, passed away at Olean General Hospital on Monday, June 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a long illness.
Born in Harrisburg, PA., on July 28, 1945, the daughter of the late Willard G. and Elizabeth E. (Lloyd) Flick. On August 24, 1963, she married Eugene C. Smith, who predeceased her on December 24, 2009.
Gloria graduated from B.C.I. High School in PA on June 3, 1963, as the senior class secretary and treasurer. She worked for 40 years at Ried’s Food Barn as a Donut Finisher. She worked for Prudential Insurance as a secretary until her retirement. Her joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, whom she loved very much
Gloria brought joy everywhere she went. She loved to laugh, read books, and enjoyed card games. She was the rock of the family, everyone went to her for anything and everything. Gloria’s door was always open for dinner or dessert. She was a beautiful and very lovable wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and worker.
Gloria is survived by her daughters, Cindy (James) Karroach of Allegany, and Lori Slavin of Olean; her grandchildren, Tyler M. Slavin, Jared W. (Taylor Euston) Slavin, Brittney (Ryan) Parker and Jason Karroach; and 2 great-grandchildren, Everleigh Karroach and Nathan Fish; a sister, Martha Hilma Flick Skiver; lots of nieces and nephews, whom she enjoyed, especially John Furey, who was like a son and did so much for her; and best friends, Peggy Dimmick and Barbara Wilson.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene; her parents, William and Elizabeth; a son, Randall Smith; and siblings, Charles Flick, Margaret Furey, Robert Eugene Lloyd, and Theodore Richard Flick.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11 AM in Allegany Cemetery in Allegany.
