SHIPPENSBURG, PA — Senior Brayden Frair closed out a tremendous career as an Owl at the Pennsylvania State Track and Field Meet with fine performances in the 800 meters and the 1600 meters.

Frair finished 12th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.54, just 1.21 seconds out of a eighth place and a state metal.  He ran the 1600 meters in 4:23.45 for 19th place.

Ending his fourth year on the team, Frair just completed the best season ever for a Bradford distance runner.  He now has the records in five distance events, holding the title in the 800M, 1600M, one mile, 3200M and the 2000 meter steeplechase. During his tenure, Frair scored 704 points, ending eleventh All-Time, including 282 points during his senior campaign which stands as 13th ever for a single season.

As far as individual awards, Frair has been named the team’s most valuable player for the last three years in a row, has won the James Manner Award for District 9 Class 4A during his sophomore season and has also earned the Most Outstanding Track Performer award at the McDowell Invitational this year. Moving forward, he will continue his track career at Lock Haven.

“He has been a great leader for our team,” said Bradford head coach Tom Tessena. “He will be missed.”

Also at the state meet, junior Fabian Sherk competed in the triple jump, finishing 25th overall with a jump of 42’0”.  Andrew Giordano also placed 25th in the javelin with a throw of 149’5”.

“We look for (Sherk) to be back at this meet next year and put up a big number,” said Tessena. “He won four medals at Districts this year.”

Bradford will honor their team members at the annual Track and Field Banquet, held at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
