DUNKIRK, NY – Bouncing back from two straight loses, the Olean softball team regained confidence with a 17-0, four-inning win over Dunkirk.
The Huskies’ bats came ready to play, with Ava Finch drilling an RBI single just three batters in. Right after, Anna Bates hit a double before being brought in by a Alaina Hirliman sacrifice grounder. Equally as potent on defense, Emma Edwards took command from the circle as she struck out three straight batters.
In the second, Olean pulled away for good, starting with an Ari Finch home run as the lead-off slugger. The next three Huskies would all hit singles, loading the bases in preparation for Bates’ three-run RBI double. Over the next two frames, Olean continued to suppress the Marauders as they racked up runs, eventually tallying win No. six in dominating fashion.
The Finch sisters both logged two RBIs, with Ava (1-for-2) scoring twice and Ari (2-for-2) crossing home plate three times. Riley Sudbrook found three hits in four at bats, scoring a team-high four times while driving in three runs while Bates recorded five RBIs on a 2-for-2 day at the plate.
