OLEAN, NY – Despite avoiding a shutout with a late score, the Olean softball team fell to 5-5 with a 4-1, six-inning loss at home to Wellsville.
While the Lions started off strong with three runs in the same amount of frames, Olean failed to get to their fourth batter in the same amount of time. Their efforts would culminate in a score in the sixth as Riley Sudbrook crossed home plate on a sacrifice grounder from Emma Edwards.
Sudbrook ended 1-for-3 for the Huskies while Edwards went 1-for-3, also striking out four batters during the loss.

PORTVILLE, NY – With consistent bats and a near no-hitter in the circle, the Gators blanked Portville in a seven-frame smashing.
A-L wasted no time getting on the board as they would get two runners on base with back-to-back walks before Kk Honeck and Kailey Truman would both score on wild pitches. After Truman fanned three straight batters, the Gators returned to the plate to inflict more damage. As they continued to shut out the Panthers, A-L would routinely run up the score as they tallied another win to their impressive season.
In all, Kailey Truman fanned 11 batters, coming within one hit of a no-no and also scoring three times. Taylor Foster ended 2-for-3 with one score and four RBIs while Kendall Lemon went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Honeck scored twice while Summer Rhow, Abby Peck, Peyton Truman, Madison Kham and Carley Barrey all scored once.
Portville’s lone hit came from Peyton Young who ended 1-for-3.

FREDONIA, NY – An early start would falter as the Warriors gave up six runs in the final two frames.
Salamanca got on the scoreboard first off a Peyton Bradley RBI single that brought in Corey Holleran before retaking the lead in the third after Holleran would cross home plate again on a Fredonia error. However, late in the game, the Hillbillies surged with four runs in the fifth, then sealing the Warriors’ loss with two more in the sixth.
Holleran ended with a team-high two runs, finishing 1-for-2 at the plate while Bradley went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

SALAMANCA, NY — Leilene McComber’s eight goals led the way for the Salamanca girls lacrosse team in its loss to Lake Shore/Silver Creek.
Myla Galante recorded the only other goal for the Warriors while Liana Jimerson made 17 saves in net.
