Janet L. Oaks, 82, of Olean, NY, died Tuesday morning, April 29, 2025 with her daughter Lisa by her side at Olean General Hospital following a long illness.
Born April 21, 1943 in Linesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Freda Britton Emborsky. She was married November 19, 1983 in Great Valley, NY to Lance Oaks, who survives.
She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1961.
Janet had been employed as a real estate appraiser, owning and operating Janco LLC, Olean, NY, and had previously been a real estate agent as well as a home inspector. She had also previously been employed as a finisher and inspector at the former Fancher Furniture Company, Salamanca, NY.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling with her husband. She also enjoyed quilting, cooking, and was an avid reader. She will be remembered for helping friends and family in need and for her kind heart.
Surviving besides her husband are: three daughters, Karen (Scott) Ramage, East Randolph, NY, Gail (Mike) Schultz, Mayville, NY, Lisa (Robert) Carpenter, Salamanca, NY; four stepchildren, Lance, Jill, Kelly, Kandy; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and her life-long best friend, Jerolyn Zariczny Hayes, Winter Haven, FL.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 11am – 1pm, at which time funeral services will be held with Deacon Michael Anderson officiating.
