John E. Tarbox of 1771 S. Happy Hollow Road passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Highland Park in Wellsville.
John was born May 10, 1942 in Olean and was the son of Charles E. and Wilma F. Russell Tarbox. On November 23, 1963 at the Olean First Methodist Church he married Janet E. Comstock who survives.
John was a 1960 graduate of Portville Central School. He served in the US Navy from May 17, 1962 to July 21, 1966. John worked as a Respiratory Therapist at St. Francis Hospital, Bradford Regional Medical Center and Olean General Hospital.
John attended St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. He was a lifetime member of Weston Mills Fire Department, a member of the Portville Masonic Lodge #579, the Scottish Wright Consistory in Coudersport, PA and the Order of the Amaranth Portville Court #19.
Along with his loving wife Janet, John is survived by; 2 children, Raymond C. (Paula) Tarbox of Jonesville, NC and Melynda M. (Dale) Langworthy of Olean; 4 grandchildren, Ryen, Trever, Shaine (Katie) and Conner; 4 great grandchildren, Kyliegh, Kaleigha, Braelynn and Bentley; and a sister, Mary J. Menter of Olean.
John was predeceased by; his parents; a brother, Charles Tarbox and a sister, Patricia Tarbox.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11:00am at the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 109 S Barry St, Olean. Rev. Kim Rossi Rector will officiate, with a luncheon to follow.
