OLEAN — Two Allegany residents were taken into custody on drug-related charges following a March 14 traffic stop on North 12th Street in Olean by Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies.

The arrests came after deputies said they observed drug paraphernalia in plain view in the vehicle about 1:38 a.m.

Jonathan E. Colon, 40, and Kari L. Jolin, 42, both of Allegany, were taken into custody following a search of the vehicle.

Deputies said Colon was found to be in possession of 23.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 4 buprenorphine pills, packaging materials, a scale, and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia. Jolin was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, packaging materials, a scale, and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia, they said.

K9 Lex arrived on scene and assisted with secondary searches of the vehicle. Both Colon and Jolin were transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriffs Office for processing.

Jolin was processed and released on an appearance ticket for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia — scales and packaging material. Jolin is due in Olean City Court at a later date for further proceedings.

Colon was processed and then transported to the City of Olean Court for an arraignment on the following charges: second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance — Intent to Sell — seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia — scales and packaging materials — and multiple uniform traffic tickets. Colon was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail without bail.
