Thomas Joseph Nolan Sr.

OLEAN — Thomas J. Nolan Sr. passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Olean General Hospital after a short illness.

Born in Olean on May 26, 1933, he was the son of the late Mary M. and James E. Nolan. On September 10, 1960, in St. Conrad’s Church in Meridian PA., he married the former Rosemary Ann Rozic, who predeceased him in March 1974.

Tom graduated from Olean High School and attended night school to receive his apprenticeship in carpentry. He worked as a carpenter for various construction companies. He served in the US Army as a specialist from 1956 to 1958. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed making various pieces of furniture for his home.

He is survived by his children, Mary (Jim) Rhode, Tom (Linda) Nolan Jr., and Teresa (Tom) Croce, and families; and his siblings, Gene, and Marion.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rosemary; his brothers, Jim, Ed, Paul, and Bobby; and his sister, Margaret.

The family will receive family and friends on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 9 to 10 am. for visitation, at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Chris Emminger starting at 10 am. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, with full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Mary’s Basilica, Olean, or to The Veterans Association of America, Inc. PO Box 309 Audubon Station, New York, NY 10032-0309
