SALAMANCA — The Salamanca girls basketball team celebrated its senior night with a resounding 53-22 thrashing of Dunkirk.

The Warriors managed to hold the Marauders to just 10 points through the first three quarters of action while putting up 39 themselves in that time.

Nine different Salamanca players got on the scoresheet against Dunkirk, all of whom were led by Skyla Dowdy’s game-high 18-point performance. Maliyah Foster, who scored 12 points on the night, was the only other Salamanca player that finished with double figures.

“Everyone got into the scorebook which is always good to see,” Salamanca coach Joe Hinman said. “We worked together and found the best shot on almost every possession. I’m grateful for the seniors and the contributions they made to this program. There is still work to do as the playoffs approach us.”

PORTVILLE — Despite Aly Haynes pouring in 20 points, the Lady Panthers were unable to contain the Trocki sisters, who combined for 43 points in Portville’s ninth loss of the season.

After falling behind early, the gap on the scoreboard only grew exponentially as Frewburg built an insurmountable lead at halftime.

Haynes would end with a double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds in the loss.

“Ali had a fantastic game. She was making solid post moves and finishing with contact.  Her teammates did a great job finding her,” said Portville head coach Inga Welty. “In general, our effort was there. We just got beat by a team that is better than us.  We competed so the girls have nothing to hang their heads about.”
