Southwestern 50, Salamanca 45
JAMESTOWN, NY — A 29-point second half had the Salamanca girls basketball team on the brink of completing a come-from-behind win over Southwestern.
Unfortunately for the Warriors, the 14-point hole they found themselves in at halftime proved to be too much to overcome.
Led by Leilene McComber’s game-high 18 points, Salamanca gave itself a chance against the unbeaten CCAA Div. I leaders. However, she was the only member of her team to finish in double figures with Maliyah Foster’s nine-point tally the next highest.
Meanwhile for the Trojans, Ellie Pearson and Braya Beaver recorded 18 and 16 points apiece to help lead the hosts over the finish line first.
“It was a continuous back-and-forth battle all night,” Hinman said. “We had a defensive plan to shut down their top player and we did but we just couldn’t get enough offensive shots to go in. I am very pleased with our efforts to stay in it.”

Olean, which had lost its last two contests, provided a big threat on enemy territory behind Ava Finch’s team-high 10 points. Anna Bates and Alaina Hirliman provided eight and seven points respectively in the loss.

Portville 43, Gowanda 37
PORTVILLE, NY — Leading by just one point at halftime, Portville changed up its game plan in the second half and pulled away after seeing a plethora of success under the rim.
Ali Haynes, who scored 11 of her game-high 13 points in the second half for the Panthers, led the charge offensively with Emma Rhinehart helping her along with 10 of her own in the winning effort.
Shia Lindgren scored a team-high 11 points for Gowanda.
“Last time we played Gowanda, CC John had 23 points. Ashley Carls did a great job holding her to eight points tonight. Ali Haynes was able to score 11 points in the second half as her teammates found her for easy finishes. Besides getting a league win, the best part of the night was making all our free throws. Also, senior Natalie Reynolds gave us some quality minutes. She played tough defense, boxed out and had some great passes to the post. I hope this helps her gain some confidence. As a team, we still have skills to improve upon, but we are happy with the win.”

Otto-Eldred 33, Cameron County 31
DUKE CENTER, PA — Otto-Eldred’s Addie Bell and Cameron County’s Elise Bresslin went back-and-forth, putting together 15-point performances, but it was the former who got the most help from her supporting cast to get the job done.
The combined 15 points that the Terrors got from Carrie Drummond and Baylee Francis provided just enough of a buffer to prevent a second-half comeback attempt from the Red Raiders after the former scored just 12 points in the second half.
Drummond and Ayla Van Scoter recorded seven rebounds and two assists in the win as well.
