FREDONIA, NY – For the third time in as many years, the Salamanca boys basketball team has claimed the CCAA Div. I title, clinching it this season with a 60-51 win over Fredonia on the road.
But the win was not guaranteed.
At halftime, the Warriors and Hillbillies were knotted up at 28 apiece. But with a deluge of free throws in the second half, the former was able to put distance between itself and its host.
Maddox Isaac led Salamanca with a game-high 26 points, 13 of which came from the charity stripe. Avery Brown provided 12 points as well in the winning effort.
For Fredonia, RJ Koopman was the only player to finish in double figures, recording 13 on the night.

OLEAN, NY – Olean was able to get back in the win column after its six-game win streak came to an end at Salamanca earlier in the week, with a 12-point win over Falconer.
The combined efforts of Dominic Giovine and Mykel Rivera carried the offensive torch for the Huskies, the former recording a game-high 22-point performance while the latter finished with 14 to his name.
Luca Quinn tacked on seven points in the win as well.
Roger Markham had the team-high in points for Fredonia with 20 on the night.

BRADFORD, PA – The Bradford girls basketball team suffered a heavy defeat at home to Punxsutawney.
Alyssa Johnson had the team-high for the Owls with six points.
Samantha Griebel scored a game-high 20 points for the Chucks with Natalie Burkett piling on 15 points.

BRADFORD, PA – The Bradford boys and girls swim teams both fell to DuBois despite splitting the overall first-place finishes.
Combined there were 22 top spots up for grabs between the two parallel meets, the Owls grabbed 11 — six by the girls, five by the boys.
Isabella Rhoades led the Bradford girls team with an individual first-place finish in the 50 freestyle (:26.67) and 100 backstroke (1:03.62). Other individual event winners for the girls were Shyla Williams (2:43.10) in the 200 freestyle, Addison Benson (2:58.09) in the 200 IM and Rylann Terwilliger (6:33.23) in the 500 freestyle.
Williams, Benson, Terwilliger and Rhoades (4:41.67) took first in the 400 freestyle relay as well.
As for the Bradford boys team, Sean Storer led the way with individual wins in the 200 IM (2:20.12) and the 100 butterfly (:59.31).
Cooper Haight (1:16.46) and Joseph Cary (1:20.62) grabbed first-place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke respectively while Matthew Galbraith, Haight, Storer and Cary took first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:03.80.

CCAA Swimming and Diving Championships
Frewsburg 440, Olean 366, Panama 254, Dunkirk 120
OLEAN — The Olean boys swim and dive team set four pool records and finished second overall in the CCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Jan. 31.
Sean Howard, Johnson Li, Nick Hillman and Colton Reska set the program record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:55.53, which was good for fourth, while Landon Johnson, Li, Reska and Nolan Wilczewski set a new record in the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:37.12 time, good for second in the event.
Wilczewski also managed to set two records individually, finishing with a 2:17.60 time in the 200 IM and with a 5:23.03 time in the 500 freestyle, both good for second place finishes.
But despite those times, save for Kai Warner’s win in the 1-meter diving with a score of 314.50, the Huskies were kept off the leaderboard on the night.
But they were rarely kept from second place.
Grabbing second-place finishes were Micah Johnson (2:07.99) in the 200 freestyle, Jackson Reska (204.50) in 1-meter diving, Nick Hillman (1:03.25) in the 100 butterfly, Landon Johnson (:49.98) in 100 freestyle and Li (1:14.46) in the 100 breaststroke.
Howard, Wilczewski, Landon Johnson and Micah Johnson (3:45.65) took second in the 400 freestyle relay as well.
