Thursday Roundup: Van Scoter leads Lady Terrors; Portville falls to Cassadaga Valley

WELLSVILLE, NY – Playing their fourth New York opponent of the season, the Otto-Eldred girls’ basketball team was led by Ayla Van Scoters’ 20 points as they defeated Wellsville 54-30. 

Scoring by committee in the first half, the Lady Terrors jumped in front before cementing their lead in the third quarter. Holding Wellsville to just seven points in that period, Van Scoter and Baylee Franics combined for 16 of O-E’s 18 points. 

Along with her game-high 20 points, Van Scoter pulled down four rebounds and dished out a pair of assists. Her counterpart on the night, Francis, ended with 11 points and five assists while Carrie Drummond finished with 11 points, six rebounds and two assists. Rayel Hakes led the Lady Terrors in rebounding with nine, also contributing two assists and four points.

Cassadaga Valley 59, Portville 21

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, NY – The Lady Panthers’ end of season struggles continue as they fell to Cassadaga Valley, suffering their fourth loss in the last five games.

Ali Haynes led the charge for Portville with 10 points, six rebounds, four steals and two assists.

Portville (7-8) have just five games left on their schedule, with the next two being played at home. The Lady Panthers will first host Gowanda on Monday before inviting Frewsburg to their home court on Thursday.
