Dr. Ursula Mary Anderson, 96, of East Otto, NY passed away peacefully Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Salamanca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.

Born July 12, 1928 in Birkenhead, England, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Beatrice Garrett Anderson.

She started medical school at the age of 16 and graduated as a Doctor from the University of Liverpool in 1952. She continued her education and obtained M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., D.P.H., D.C.H., M.B., Ch.B., F.A.A.P., and D.Sc. (hons). As a physician with many degrees and diplomas and three specialties, she regarded Pediatrics as her primary clinical specialty, which together with the other two, served to frame the soul of humankind as her field of endeavor.

Ursula had been employed at Forest Institute of Professional Psychology, the University of Toronto, Emory University, the US Dept. of Health and Welfare, and the University of Buffalo. She had also been a consultant to the World Health Organization, the US National Perinatal Association, and the US National & Regional Head Start Programs. She served as Chairperson, NYS Task Force on Health and Manpower, and was a member of First People to People Pediatric Delegation to the USSA from the USA.

She enjoyed writing poetry and has written several books, including Immunology of the Soul, The Psalms of Children, and Taking Out the Violence.

Dr. Anderson dedicated her life to helping women and children; it was her life’s passion. She loved the beauty of the world her God had created. She had a strong connection to nature and celebrated the changing seasons, rejoicing in the new Spring flowers and the animals who frequented her house. She was a great friend and a source of wisdom and experience to all who knew her. She continued to work up until the time of her passing, believing there was still work for her to do. She would say, “We must never stop working to make life better for the children”.
