PORT ALLEGANY, PA – In a rematch of their first game of the season, the Otto-Eldred girls’ basketball team earned a little revenge, beating Port Allegany 45-36 in hostile territory.
Just about halfway through the season, the Lady Terrors have a near flawless record. The only smudge, however, is a season-opening loss to the Lady Gators. Since then, O-E has embarked on a seven-game win streak that included besting five North Tier League opponents. On Monday, they got a chance to even the score against the league-leading Lady Gators.
Holding Port to just five points in the first, O-E hit their shots early, with Ayla Van Scoter and Baylee Francis hitting 3-pointers in the first quarter. They would double down in the second with a pair of triples from Van Scoter and Jaden Smith as they took a 13-point lead.
In the second, the Lady Terrors would maintain a double-digit lead, ultimately tallying win No. 8.
Rayel Hakes would lead O-E in scoring with 12 points alongside six rebounds. Carrie Drummond and Baylee Franics would also each grab six boards, scoring nine and 10 points, respectively. Van Scoter finished with eight points while recording two steals and a team-high seven points.

Salamanca 56, Falconer 44
FALCONER, NY – A big 15-point contribution from Cory Holleran helped lead Salamanca to a win on the road over Falconer.
Holleran, who has been mainly used in a traditional point guard role by the Warriors this season — dishing out passes and scoring the occasional bucket — picked up the baton on the offensive end against the Golden Falcons.
However, he was not the only source of points Salamanca had on the night as Avery Brown and Maddox Isaac continued to have success seeing the ball through the hoop, recording 12 and 10-point performances respectively.
Falconer was led by Roger Markham, who finished with a game-high 17 points, but besides Nathan Bailey’s supplemental 11 points, not much offense was generated elsewhere by the hosts.
