CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, NY – After having him back for just two games, the DeFazio effect is already lending itself towards success as the Portville boys’ basketball team notched their first win of the season, beating Cassadaga Valley 81-28.

On Tuesday, Aidan DeFazio finally made his season debut. After recovering from three fractured vertebrae that sidelined him for the first six games, DeFazio took to the hardwood, dropping 25 points in the Panthers’ loss to Randolph. He followed that breakout performance with a statement game against the Cougars.

Entering the contest, DeFazio sat just 13 points away from a personal milestone: joining Portvilles’ 1,000 point club. Although he was unable to score in the first quarter, DeFazio erupted in the second, knocking down six of his eight 3-pointers on his way to 22-points and a spot among the Panther elite.

By then, Portville had built a hefty 42-11 lead and entering the second half, they would continue to keep their foot on the pedal. DeFazio would continue to lead the charge, finishing with a season-high 30 points while Chase Armstong would join him in double-digits with 18 points, hitting five triples along the way.
