SALAMANCA – A 22-point scoring night from Leilene McComber helped the Salamanca girls’ basketball team collect their third consecutive win of the season, beating Franklinville 40-25.

After suffering a loss to Jamestown to open their season, the Lady Warriors have bounced back with back-to-back wins over Pioneer and Springville. Having the momentum behind them, they entered the meeting with a head full of steam.

McComber carried the offensive weight through the first two halves, opening with nine of Salamanca’s 11 first quarter points and four of their six in the second. Holding a slim lead at halftime, the Warriors widened it to six points in the third before scoring by committee to seal the win in the fourth. Six Lady Warriors scored in the final quarter as they outscored Franklinville 15-6.

“Franklinville was a very physical team and gave us some problems down low,” said Salamanca head coach Joe Hinman. “We had some issues finishing the easy ones early but made some adjustments and they started falling in the second half, thankfully.”

McComber ended with a career-high 22 points as Salamanca move to 3-1.
