DUKE CENTER, PA – Playing in the third North Tier League game of the season, the Otto-Eldred girls’ basketball game decimated Galeton, allowing just one basket as they went on to win 53-2.

O-E got off to hot start, erupting in the first quarter as five Lady Terrors made their way into the scoring column. With Lexi Prince hitting a pair of 3-pointers and Ayla Van Scoter weaving in and out of the paint, the Lady Terrors pulled ahead for good early. On defense, they allowed nothing, literally. The Lady Tigers were unable to see the ball go in the hoop until the third quarter, a feat they would be unable to repeat for the remainder of the game.

Rayel Hakes led O-E and Prince led the Lady Terrors in scoring, both tallying 12 points. Hakes would also record five rebounds and three steals while Van Scoter had four steals and three rebounds alongside three assists and nine points.

SHEFFIELD, PA — The Bradford and Sheffield wrestling teams went back and forth in a nailbiter meet in which the visitors managed to edge out the win.

After the first four individual matches, Sheffield and Bradford each had two wins to its name, what ended up spurring the latter onto victory was a run of five straight individual wins from Carson Hallock (107), Malyk Harpster (114), Josh Everetts (121), Ryan Galloway (127) and Cooper McGee (133).

Sheffield responded with three wins of its own to round out the overall meet, but fell just short in the end.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama 71, Olean/Allegany-Limestone 6

OLEAN — The combined Olean/Allegany-Limestone wrestling team ran into a tough opponent in Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama, suffering a heavy loss, not made easier with holes in the roster.

Caine DeGolier (170) recorded the only win for O/A-L as he defeated Tayvier Wells via fall in 2:21.

“(Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama) have a real nice team and we are kind of beat up right now,” Olean/Allegany-Limestone coach Jeffrey Gabler said. “Missing five weights does not add up to victory, especially against an opponent like them, the top ranked team in Section 6 and highly rated in the state. We will re-group and travel to Falconer tomorrow night for a task just as tough. They are also very good and will be hard to handle also.”

Indoor Track and Field

Bradford – Spire High School Holiday Classic

GENEVA, OH – In the Owls first meet of the season, Brayden Frair and Logan Kohler led the way, setting two program records at the Spire High School Holiday Classic.

Frair won the 600 meters, setting the school record at a time of 1:26.28 which also stands as the fastest time run by a Pennsylvania runner this season. Frair also placed ninth in the 400 meters with a time of 53.57. Kohler, in the 300 meters, set a new school record at 39.64 while also placing seventh in the 50 meter high hurdles at 0:8.80, only three tenths of a second away from the junior record in that event.

“We haven’t  had much practice time so these are impressive times for the first meet,” said Bradford boys head coach Tom Tessena.

Senior Joe Caruso took the lead in the distance events. In the 1600 meter he finished with a time of 4:55.82 for 26th place while coming in 21st in the 800 meter with a time of 2:13.28. Sophomore Kadyn Tessena ran the 1600M in 5:06.80 for 35th place and the 800M in 2:13.88 for 22nd place.

These were good opening times for these guys. All four of these guys ran the 4×400 meter relay where they placed third overall in 3:49.13,” said Tom Tessena. “We were pretty tired by the time this race was run. I was very pleased with these results.”

The Owls next meet will be held at Edinboro University on Saturday, Jan. 4.
