SALAMANCA — Camren Driscoll’s first-place finish at the 1st Rich Morton Salamanca Wrestling Invitational on Dec. 7 highlighted a big day for Olean/Allegany-Limestone.
The Huskies had five wrestlers walk away from the invitational, held at the Seneca Allegany Community Center, with top-three finishes.
Driscoll (108) recorded the only first-place finish out of the five top performers from Olean/A-L as he defeated Kenmore West (Ken-Ton)’s Easton McCall by a 17-0 score and a technical fall.
Second-place finishes were nabbed by Jack Aderman (131), Blake Kinnaird (145) and Gaine DeGolier (170). Domonick Hirliman (138) and Gideon Tarr (160) each grabbed third-place finishes.
Salamanca’s only boys wrestler in the invitational, Wyatt Bialaszewski (116) finished in second place with a record of 2-1 after falling in 5:02 to Ken-Ton’s Aiden Fitzgibbon in the weight class final.
However, on the girls side of the tournament, the Warriors had two wrestlers. Aaliyah Winship finished with a final record of 1-2 on the day with her win, the first for the Salamanca girls this season, coming by way of pin. Maelonnee Bacelli finished 0-2 after getting a tough draw against Lockport’s Ava Bragg who finished third at the state tournament last season.
