PORTVILLE, NY – Facing a challenger from the Keystone State, the Portville boys’ basketball team dropped their third game in a row, losing to Coudersport 69-44.
Despite opening the game with a strong offensive showing, especially from Chase Armstrong who scored 11 of the Panthers’ 15 first-quarter points, Portville would soon cool off in the second, scoring just one point. Coudy would extend their 10-point lead in the second before Mason Roessner would carry them out in front for good in the third.
Unable to contain Roessner, Portville watched as he knocked down three 3-pointers in the third quarter before tallying 11 more points in the final eight minutes, finishing with 32 points – a new career high for the senior Falcon.
Armstrong would finish with 23 points, nailing four triples and being one of two Panthers to end in double digits. Braeden Carter contributed 13 points while Zach Green ended with five.

WELLSVILLE, NY – After losing by a wide margin in their season opener, the Huskies earned a tough-fought win in game No. 2, outlasting Wellsville by a single point.
Throughout four quarters, the lead swapped hands with neither team gaining a significant advantage. While the Lions’ scoring effort fell mostly on the shoulders of JJ Howard, who scored 19 points throughout the second and third quarter, Olean’s offense came by committee.
Coming down the stretch, Joe Mest, Luca Quinn and Caedyn Tingley would combine for 16 of the Huskies’ 18 points, pushing them just in front of Wellsville for the win.
Tingley would end with a team-high 14 points while Mest, who scored all of his points from behind the arc, ended with 12. Sullivan Hoffman and Dominic Giovine both scored seven points in the win.

ULYSSES, PA – Facing their first North Tier League opponent of the season, the Lady Terrors took home their second win behind Baylee Franics’ red hot shooting from beyond the arc.
Francis got to work early, scoring nine of O-E’s 14 first quarter points and while the majority of those early scores came from the free throw line, her shot from distance would soon find rhythm. Over the next three quarters, she would hit six shots with five of them coming from behind the arc. On defense, the Lady Terrors stifled NoPo, widening the gap on the scoreboard until it was too large to overcome.
Francis finished with 26 points alongside eight rebounds while Rayel Hakes tallied eight points and 11 rebounds. Carrie Drummond had five rebounds to go with her seven points while Alya Van Scoter had five points, two rebounds, three steals and three assists in the win.
