Hinsdale- Dale W. Ray, 80, died unexpectedly Wednesday (October 23, 2024) at Olean General Hospital. Born January 5, 1944, in Tyrone, PA, he was the son of Park and Charlotte McCready Ray. On April 20, 1963, in Tyrone, he married Sara Cupp who survives.

Mr. Ray was a graduate of Tyrone High School. He worked several positions at General Motors in Tonawanda for 32 years. In his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and shooting his guns. He was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills, Penn State, and college and professional basketball. He was a member of the LaSalle Sportsman Club.

In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his children, Maureen Ray, Dwayne (Jenn) Ray, Susan (Mark) Bish, Matthew Ray, and Clayton Ray; siblings Sally Schwartz and Beryl Nearhoof and 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings Gene Ray, Don Ray, Roxy Schultz, and Cindy Ray. At Mr. Ray’s request, no services are being scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig, and Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
