An Allegany County man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he crashed his pickup truck into the Seneca Gaming and Entertainment casino on the Seneca Nation’s Oil Springs Territory.
About 45 minutes after the casino at at 5374 W. Shore Road, Cuba, opened Monday morning, a man crashed a blue pickup truck into the front of the building.
As security officers approached the truck, they spotted a shotgun as the man, who was not identified, shot himself.
Police believe the incident was sparked by a domestic incident, but they did not elaborate. The man, an Allegany County resident, is not known to have any criminal history, according to police.
No one else inside the casino at the time was injured.
The 911 call went to the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office. Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies and state troopers responded.
The Oil Springs casino was closed after the incident Monday until repairs to the building’s entrance can be completed.
Seventeen years ago, on April 5, 2007, a Getzville man died after he shot himself in the chest with a 9 mm handgun at a blackjack table at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls.
