The Salamanca Boys soccer team picked up their first win of the season against Pine Valley-Gowanda in over-time on Monday before dropping their next one to a very tough and experienced Randolph club Wednesday. The Pine Valley-Gowanda game was a very close and exciting game the entire time as Pine Valley-Gowanda took the lead into halftime 1-0. The War-wolves came out stronger in the second half with Senior Jacob Herrick scoring, tying it to 1-1 where it ended in regulation. Sophomore Easton Chudy was the hero as he was able to put the game away with his game winning goal.
On Wednesday Salamanca played one of the best teams in the league tonight and took a tough loss in their first home game 0-8. Coach Marra Stokes stated “Randolph exhibited great sportsmanship and has an amazing program”. Junior Dominick Hill and senior Alex Crowell lead the defense tonight making amazing runs and plays. Seniors Jacob Herrick and Mason Brewer also played an amazing game making great runs, preventing a lot of attacks. Sophomore Carter Light had some great saves and held them to 5 in the first half. Sophomore Cayden Lafferty played most of the second half in the net and had some great saves including a penalty Kick. Coach Stokes was encouraged by her team’s effort “Our program is building every single day. We are a very young team with a lot of potential and will continue to grind every single day. We are very proud of our athletes for playing hard until the end against a very tough opponent.”

In other action on Monday, Olean fell to Southwestern 1-10, Allegany moved to 4-1 with a 5-0 shutout over Jamestown, and Randolph edged Ellicottville 1-0
