ELDRED – Edwin McPeak, Jr., of Olean was arrested and charged with robbery in connection with the armed robbery of Hamlin Bank and Trust Company in Eldred, Pennsylvania.
McPeak is suspected of carjacking a Ford F-250 City of Olean Public Works truck at Franchot Park in Olean, then robbing the High Point Federal Credit Union in Portville, New York and committing a second bank robbery at the Hamlin Bank and Trust Company location in Eldred, Pennsylvania.
Smethport Police observed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop in Farmer’s Valley. The vehicle refused to stop and led police on a high-speed chase before crashing near Rew Hill.
The McKean County District Attorney’s office reports, “officers with Smethport, Port Allegany, Pennsylvania State Police, Bradford City Police, Foster Township Police, and Bradford Township Police responded along with City of Bradford Fire and Ambulance crew and the City K9. The investigation is ongoing by the Pennsylvania State Police.”
