KILL BUCK — The Kill Buck Flag House is ready for Memorial Day.

Alan Robison started placing hundreds of small American flags on the front lawn of his Kill Buck Road home as a tribute to his father Willis about 14 years ago.

Three times a year — Memorial Day, September 11 and Veterans Day — Robison places the flags in front of his house as a thank you to veterans — including his late father, who served in the Air Force.

Robison has also installed a patriotic light show on top of his house. It is set to patriotic music that people can tune to in their car at 104.7 fm.

He also has light shows set to music on Halloween and Christmas.

This is the third year for the Memorial Day light show, he said. “I’m trying to progress. You can pick up the transmitter from ¼ of a mile away.”

Robison said a lot of people honk their car horns when they drive by, signaling their approval of the patriotic display.

“This isn’t about me,” he told a reporter who called about the flags. “It’s about the veterans. It’s my way of thanking veterans for all they’ve done for us — to let them know I appreciate them. It’s a very little thing I do for what they’ve done for all of us.”

Besides the 350 small American flags, an American Flag sits atop a flagpole in the middle of the yard, with a black POW flag flying beneath it. There’s also a sign that reads: “Thank U All Veterans.”

For Veteran’s Day, Robison places cut-outs of servicemen from each of the nation’s armed forces on the lawn. For Veteran’s Day, he said he places about 1,800 small flags on the lawn.

On September 11, Robison’s display of flags includes signs thanking all first responders.
