HINSDALE- Anna B. Hurlburt, 96, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 2, 2026, at Absolut Care of Allegany.

Born on December 12, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William Lloyd Mott Sr. and Louise (Heilig) Mott. A lifelong resident of the area, Anna spent over 69 years on her beloved farm on Gile Hollow in Hinsdale. The farm was a warm and welcoming cornerstone of the neighborhood, well-remembered for family gatherings, reunions and joyful winter sledding and snowmobiling.

She was a graduate of Hinsdale Central School, class of 1947.

On August 7, 1949, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” Hurlburt Sr., at the Olean Presbyterian Church. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with faith, family, and adventure, especially enjoying trips across the United States in their RV visiting family and friends.

Anna was a dedicated worker and a familiar face in the community. She worked at Century Housewares in Olean before dedicating 30 years of service to the Hinsdale Post Office, where she took great pride in serving her neighbors as a rural mail carrier.

Deeply rooted in her community, Anna was an active member of the Hinsdale Community Church. She also brought joy and fellowship to many through her involvement with the Red Hatters Club, the Sunshine Quilters group, and her dedicated service on the Historical Canal & Hinsdale Heritage Days planning board.

She is survived by her loving son, William (Marlea) Hurlburt Jr. of Florida and eight grandchildren Douglas (Nanci) Hurlburt of Hinsdale, Dawn (Patrick) Donaher of Macedon, Daniel Hurlburt of Olean, Amie (Heather) Peck of Hinsdale, Tracy (Shawn) Dibble of Cuba, Sara (Nick) Jones of Lopez Island Wash., Ashley (Tony) Biagini of Salisbury Mills, and Kelly (Ryan) Hurlburt of Cuba, 24 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Anna was predeceased by her beloved husband, William “Bill” E Hurlburt Sr.; her son, Terry L Hurlburt; and seven brothers and sisters: Bill Mott, Robert Mott, Dorothy (Mott) Rice, Mary (Mott) Slattery, Phil Mott, Lewis, Mott, Ralph Mott.

A celebration of Anna’s life and faith will be held at a later date in the summer of 2027.

Memorials may be made to Hinsdale Community Church, 3828 Pennsylvania Rd., Hinsdale, NY 14743-9795
