OLEAN, NY – Suiting up for the final time of the season, the Olean football team entered the annual Chuck Funk Bowl bracket. Representing the Red and Gold in the semifinals, the Huskies’ ultimately fell to Lake Shore 48-8.
Early stumbles proved to be an omen for Olean. After watching the first points go up on the board via a 67-yard Eagles pick-six off Dom Myers, the Huskies watched the flood gates open. Lake Shores’ own air raid proved fatal, as they then scored back-to-back touchdowns through the air before switching to the ground, which also produced a pair of scores to give them a 34-0 lead at the half.
The second half was just as ugly for the Huskies. Early in the third, Lake Shore returned a kick-off for a 55-yard touchdown before tacking on another touchdown late in the frame via the ground. Finally, with just seven minutes in the game and a 48-point margin on the scoreboard, Olean broke through. Finding Isaiah Acosta downrange, Myers recorded his final passing touchdown of the season with a 17-yard connection.
Myers ended with 17 passing yards in the loss, going 2-for-15 with a pair of interceptions, while recording a team-high 65 rushing yards. Acosta came away with 52 receiving yards on four receptions.
