OLEAN — The local Voices of the People Movement will hold a No Kings 4.0 protest and Get Out the Vote Rally at War Veterans Park from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17.
The demonstration coincides with a national day of protest.
Jessica Davis of Voices of the People said the rally will include get out the vote efforts for several Democratic candidates including Aaron Gies for Congress, Gov. Kathy Hochul’s re-election bid and Victoria Guite-Williams, State Senate candidate in the 57th District.
“ Nick Langworthy and George Borrello are yes men to Trump and his disastrous policies,” Davis said.” Bruce Blakeman will be too. So let’s turn this area purple and keep NY blue!”
Davis welcomed demonstrators, “Whether you’re coming out for affordability, food, gas, utility costs, climate science, the Iran war, the Ukrainian war, what is happening in Gaza, veterans rights, lgbtqia rights, the Epstein files or just believe that every human being has basic human rights.”
“Or whether you have some other reason why you want to come out, protest with us,” she said. “Please come out and join us and let’s break last year’s record of 657!”
Davis emphasized: “We have a small safety team so we are responsible for our own personal safety as well as the safety of the group. We keep each other safe when we do not engage counter-protesters.”
Davis said, “Let’s get out, and vote for Aaron, Victoria and Kathy. Help us hold Trump and his administration accountable for their corruption and their deceit!”
Bathrooms in the park will be open.
