PORTVILLE, NY – Midway through the second half of play, Grace Gariepy had the ball and, in traditional fashion, her eyes were trained on the net.

Dribbling through a crowd of Trojan defenders, she swiftly made her way deep into the box, finding herself only opposed by Southwestern’s goalkeeper. Beating the net tender, she rocketed a shot to the far side of the goal, officially becoming the fourth Panther, girl or boy, to reach 100 career scores as the Portville girl’s soccer team bested the Trojans 2-0.

“As far as Grace, what can you say? She’s a tireless worker. If I had to bet, she’s probably at the field right now working on something,” said Portville head coach Mike Matz. “She is very deserving of every opportunity she gets because she makes them happen. It’s been a great experience watching someone of her talent compete for our school.”

Gariepy’s goal came as the second on the day, following Airiana Whittaker’s score in the 58th minute of play that put the Panthers out in front. Holding a firm cushion and facing just five shots throughout the entire afternoon, of which were stopped by Kaylin Elliott, Portville cruised to their sixth win of the season.

Portville now has just four games left before the regular season concludes, all of which will all be played at home. The Panthers open the final stretch by hosting Rocky River on Saturday, Cuba Rushford/Bolivar on Monday, Jamestown on Tuesday. Then, they will conclude their campaign against Allegany-Limestone next Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Bradford 4, Warren 0

WARREN, PA – Another hat trick from Alyssa Mangold pushed the Lady Owls’ offense to a shutout win on the road.

Alongside Mangold, Reese Rosendahl also found the back of the net, Cami Sheeley and Lucy Spehar tallied assists. In goal, Adeline Meter came away with one save while tending the net.

Allegany-Limestone 3, Falconer 1

FALCONER, NY – Three goals from three different Gators propelled A-L to a 13th consecutive win, downing Falconer on the road.

Midway through the first, Leea Kopp notched the inaugural goal of the night off an assist from Kennedy Honeck. Thirteen minutes later, Honeck repeated the feat, scoring her 14th of the season. Although Falconer responded early in the second half, A-L finished off the night with one more game-sealing score, seeing Kai Wojewoda-Ko punch in a retaliatory goal in the 47th minute.

Honeck ended with two assists alongside her goal, while Kenna MacArthur came away with four saves.

Randolph 6, Salamanca 2

RANDOLPH, NY – Addy Earley scored twice as the Warriors fell short against the Cardinals.

The loss comes as Salamanca’s third on the year, dropping to 9-3 overall and 7-2 in league play.

Otto-Eldred 3, Northern Potter 1

ULYSSES, PA – Suffering their first set loss of the season didn’t stop the Lady Terrors from churning out another lop-sided win as they took down NoPo.

After going down 25-23 in the initial set of the night, O-E responded with three straight wins, coming out ahead 25-12, 25-5 and 25-14.

Rayel Hakes finished with a team-high 25 kills, seven aces and three blocks, while Bailee Olmstead also had seven aces with eight digs. Ayla Van Scoter registered 10 kills in the win and Emma Button tallied 34 assists and four digs.

Olean 3, Falconer 2

OLEAN, NY – Staring down their second five-set deathmatch of the season, the Huskies came out ahead, narrowly besting the Golden Falcons with a decisive 15-8 fifth set win.

The victory now stretches Olean’s current win streak to three as they improve to 9-4 on the season. The Huskies now have just three matches left on the schedule before they enter the Section VI Class B postseason.

Portville 3, Southwestern 0

SOUTHWESTERN, NY – Another dominant sweep gave way to the Panthers’ eighth straight win, beating the Trojans 25-6, 25-17 and 25-8.
