TUESDAY ROUNDUP: Gators salvage win streak in OT; Olean volleyball sweeps Dunkirk

ALLEGANY, NY – Three goals from three different Gators lifted the Allegany-Limestone girl’s soccer team to a 3-2 win over Southwestern in overtime. 

Although A-L was able to open the scorebooks early, seeing Kai Wojewoda-Ko punch in her eleventh goal of the season, the Trojans were quick to counter, scoring four minutes after to even the score. In the second, Southwestern would be the first to throw the next punch, however, once again the Gators countered sooner rather than later. Tying the game was Peyton Truman, notching a goal in the 71st minute which ultimately sent the game into overtime.

Once there, A-L wasted no time deciding the outcome, seeing Leaa Kopp find the back of the net for the game-sealing score.

Assists on the night came from Wojewoda-Ko, Ember DeGroff and Kennedy Honeck. In goal, Kenna MacArthur saw eight shots and saved six. 

With the win, A-L’s win streak stayed in tack, now sitting at eleven games strong. Having three games remaining on the docket, the Gators boast a 12-1 record overall and a perfect 9-0 resume in the CCAA Division I standings, firmly atop the rankings. 

Up next, A-L will take to the road to play Falconer/CV/MG (9-2-1) on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Port United 4, Ridgway 1

RIDGWAY, PA – Port held out over the Lady Elkers with a hat trick from Kylee Pelchy.

Alongside Pelchy was her sister, Alyssa Pelchy with a goal and Aleigha Reed with one assist and Lily O’Rourke with two. Dana Clark tended the net for eight saves. 

The Lady Gators now sit at 5-8 on the season with five games left. 

Falconer/CV/MG 10, Olean 1

FALCONER, NY – A blow out whallopping saw the Huskies fall to 3-10 on the season. 

Olean’s lone goal of the night came from Addison Crosson, who scored in the ninth minute of the game. In goal, Alaina Hirliman ended with 13 saves. 

With two games left, the Huskies next see Southwestern next Tuesday before completing the regular season on Thursday at Fredonia. 

Boy’s Soccer

Bradford 1, Brookville 0

BROOKVILLE, PA – Jaron Lohrman pushed the Owls over the Blue Raiders on the road. 

Ewan Bell had the assist in the win.

Volleyball

Elk County Catholic 3, Bradford 1

BRADFORD, PA – After taking the first set, the Lady Owls were helpless to close out the night, falling to ECC in four. 

Bradford opened the night with a 25-20 win, but eventually lost the next three 25-19, 25-17 and 25-22. 

Haley Keane ended with 16 kills, three blocks and three aces, while Emma Pilon collected eight digs and Aliya Corignani recorded 22 assists, two blocks and six digs. 

Olean 3, Dunkirk 0 

OLEAN, NY – A clean sweep improved the Huskies to an 8-4 record as they downed Dunkirk 25-12, 25-9 and 25-20. 

Olean next sees Falconer at home on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Gowanda 3, Salamanca 0

GOWANDA, NY – The Warriors fell below 0.500 as they were swept by Gowanda, losing 25-18, 25-14 and 25-16.

On Wednesday, Salamanca (4-5) returns home to host Catt-Little Valley (8-3) at 6:30 p.m.
