FALCONER, NY – Seeing their early efforts be undone late, the Portville girl’s soccer team added their first tie of the season to their record, ending deadlocked with Falconer/CV/MG at 1-1.
After 12 minutes of play, the Panthers’ standout star Grace Gariepy punched in her 12th goal of the season, one that would hold for a 1-0 lead going into halftime. However, midway through the second, Falconer responded, knotting the game and ultimately sending the contest to overtime.
Once there, neither could settle the dispute, adding a stalemate draw to each resume.
In goal for Portville, Kaylin Elliott ended with five saves.
The Panthers (5-4-1) will look to get back in the win column on Thursday, when they host Fredonia (7-3) at 4:30 p.m.
Salamanca 1, Franklinville 0, OT
FRANKLINVILLE, NY – In a down-to-the-wire engagement, Presleigh Jimerson pushed the Warriors ahead to their sixth win of the season.
Jimerson’s golden goal came in the final five minutes of overtime, notching her fifth of the campaign as Salamanca improved to 6-2.
Up next, the Warriors will look to pick up a third-consecutive win when they host Catt-Little Valley on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Allegany-Limestone 3, Jamestown 0
JAMESTOWN, NY – The Gators became the first team in the CCAA Division I standings to reach double-digit overall wins with a lopsided shutout over Jamestown.
After earning a tenth consecutive win, A-L next hosts Olean on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Brockway 7, Port United 0
BROCKWAY, PA – The Lady Gators fell on the road in a lop-sided affair to the Lady Rovers.
In goal, Port’s Dana Clark ended with six saves while Delaney Stromberg had five.
Next, the Lady Gators will host Clarion on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Volleyball
Bradford 3, Kane 0
BRADFORD, PA – Behind Haley Keane’s five aces and eight kills, the Lady Owls dominated Kane in three, winning 25-11, 25-11 and 25-13.
Alongside Keane, Emma Pilon ended with six kills and two aces and Aliya Corignani recorded 15 assists.
Ellicottville 3, Salamanca 2
SALAMANCA, NY – After finding three consecutive victories, the Warriors’ win streak came to an end with a five-set showdown against the Eagles.
Salamanca earned the advantage early, winning set one and two 25-23 and 25-18. However, then came the response. Ellicottville evened the night with back-to-back 25-22 victories before sealing the comeback with a 15-12 win in the third, handing the Warriors their fourth loss of the season.
Ayla Newark ended with 13 kills for the Warriors, while Jaelynn Cooper came away with five aces and ten digs. Joey Jimerson had 12 assists while CC Chamas had 11.
Swimming and Diving
Salamanca 106, Franklinville/West Valley/Ellicottville 65
SALAMANCA, NY – Kynleigh Wass led the way for the Warriors as they earned their fifth win of the season.
Wass doubled on the night, earning first in both the 50 free and 100 free. Ella Martens touched the wall first in the 100 fly, Ava Chriss did so in the 200 free and Makenna McCormick earned gold in the 200 IM. Elliouse Brown doubled in the 50 free and 100 back as Salamanca improved to 5-1-1.
