FREDONIA, NY – Despite a 22-point fourth quarter, the Allegany-Limestone football team’s comeback efforts fell just shy of complete as they suffered their second loss of the season at 39-30 to Fredonia.
The Hillbillies’ offense came ready to play and in front of their home crowd, they started early. Opening the game with ten unanswered points, they walked into halftime with an eleven-point lead before tacking on 14 more in the third. Although the Gators found their steam late, scoring in a flurry of clutch offense, a final fourth-quarter touchdown from Fredonia sealed the victory.
A-L’s Ty Margeson came away with 276 passing yards in the loss, throwing for four touchdowns and a 53 percent completion rate (17-for-32). Ryan Callen came down with eight receptions for 116 yards and a score while Peck recorded 96 yards and two touchdowns on six receptions.
The Gators (2-2) return home next week to take on Falconer/CV/MG (3-1) at 7 p.m.
Bucktail 49, Smethport 20
SMETHPORT, PA – Outscored by 34 in the first two quarters, the Hubbers were unable to recover from their early stumbles.
Mason Swanson ended with 105 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air, while Aiden Tanner came away with 60 receiving yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Jude Kisko led the ground game with 195 yards, crossing the endzone twice as well.
Up next, Smethport will travel to play Moniteau in their second to last Region 4 meeting of the season.
Otto-Eldred 14, Cameron County 12
EMPORIUM, PA – The Terrors picked up their third win of the season with a narrow road victory in hostile territory.
O-E next sees Kane on the road next Friday.
Randolph 28, Salamanca 7
RANDOLPH, NY – A second-half scoring burst from the Cardinals handed Salamanca their third loss of the season.
After trading blows in the opening two quarters, Randolph quickly assumed control of the game. In the third, they would tack on 14-unanswered points, pulling away 21-7 before closing the night with one more trek to the endzone.
Salamanca next hosts Gowanda-Pine Valley at Veteran’s Park at 7 p.m.
Port Allegany 64, Bradford 0
BRADFORD, PA – Bouncing back from their first loss of the season, the Gators came through with another one-sided domination, spoiling Bradford’s Homecoming game.
Walking onto Parkway Field, Port laid it on thick early, tacking on 24-points in the first quarter and 32 more in the second. At the tip of the spear, per usual, was Kellen Veilleux, who led his team across the goal line in the first minute of the game.
His one-yard run in the first 50 seconds would be his first of three touchdowns on the night, coming away with 77 rushing yards on six carries. Chase Boyd, Landon Carlson and Brennan Fillhart all also scored from the ground, while Fillhart also came away with one passing touchdown during his 90-yard night.
For the Owls, Tommy Langdon finished with a team-high 20 rushing yards, narrowly beating out Keenan Miller with 26, while Lucas Wallace finished with 32 receiving yards on seven receptions.
With the win, the Gators improve to 4-1, next seeing Punxsutawney next Friday, while Bradford falls to 1-4. The Owls will travel to face Redbank Valley next week.

ALLEGANY, NY – The Gators picked up their sixth consecutive win with a home shutout over the Hillbillies.
Picking up another league win, A-L improves to 5-0 in the standings and 7-1 overall.
Salamanca at Silver Creek-Forestville
SILVER CREEK, NY – Easton Chudy scored the Warriors’ lone goal of the night as Salamanca was bested on the road.
With the loss, the Warriors fall to 4-5 on the season.
