ELLICOTTVILLE, NY – Finding themselves in yet another rock fight, the Portville boy’s soccer team was unable to separate themselves from Ellicottville/Franklinville, tacking on their second tie of the season with a 3-3 finish.
As their bump and grind season continues, the Panthers now sit at 1-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in CCAA Division I play. Up next, Portville returns home to see Cassadaga Valley/Falconer on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. before ending the week with a non-league game against Allegany-Limestone on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Allegany-Limestone 5, Jamestown 0
JAMESTOWN, NY – A flurry of offense carried the Gators to a resounding win over the Red & Green.
Tacking on their fifth consecutive, A-L now stands at 5-1 overall and 3-0 in CCAA Division I play. Their campaign continues with another league game against Olean on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Olean 2, Dunkirk 2, Draw
DUNKIRK, NY – Ending the night in another deadlock, the Huskies walked away from the pitch with their second draw of the season.
After their tick-for-tack duel with the Marauders, Olean now sits at 2-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in CCAA Division I play for fifth in the standings.
Volleyball
Otto-Eldred 3, Coudersport 0
DUKE CENTER, PA – The Lady Terrors kept their undefeated streak alive as they blanked Coudy in the Terror Dome, winning 25-20, 25-17 and 25-19.
Rayel Hakes came away with 21 kills and five blocks as she dominated above the net, followed by Jahden Smith with four kills and nine digs. Emma Button walked away from O-E’s seventh straight victory with 28 assists while Alya Van Scoter ended with four kills and nine digs.
Port Allegany 3, Galeton 0
PORT ALLEGANY, PA – Returning home, the Lady Gators earned a way back into the win column with a sweep of Galeton, winning 25-16, 25-18 and 25-17.
Gianna Glasgow ended with a team-high 12 kills, followed by Jaidyn Mahon with 10 to go with her five aces. Breah Fillhart tallied nine kills while Molly Barber recorded 34 assists.
Olean 3, Ellicottville 0
ELLICOTTVILLE, NY – Facing stiff competition the whole way through, the Huskies pulled out a narrow sweep for their fifth victory of the year.
Olean showed persistence early, fighting off the Eagles for a decisive 26-24 set one win. From there, they held strong, planting their flag in enemy territory with back-to-back 25-19 wins to seal the win.
At 5-2 overall, the Huskies move on to play Fredonia at home on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
