DUKE CENTER, PA – Meeting for the second time of the season, the Smethport football team completed their sweep of Otto-Eldred, returning home from hostile territory with a 56-30 win over the Terrors.
The Hubbers’ offense got into gear early and frequently, scoring back-to-back touchdowns in both of the initial quarters of play. Although O-E began to counter in the second half, the Terrors were unable to get their head above water, ultimately being outscored 24-22 in the final two quarters.
Jude Kisko led the effort for Smethport, coming away with 132 rushing yards alongside Mason Swanson’s 57 passing yards and one passing touchdown. Maddox Dickerson ended with two touchdowns in the win.
Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton 34, Salamanca 0
SALAMANCA, NY – Returning home after a week on the road, the Warriors suffered their worst loss of the season via blowout shutout.
The Eagles opened up the action early and often, scoring 14 in the first before taking a 27-0 lead entering the intermission. While Salamanca continued to sputter, giving up eight total turnovers on the night, CL tacked on one final touchdown in the third before holding out for the win.
Conner Seeley finished with 33 rushing yards for the Warriors.
Allegany-Limestone/Hinsdale 8, Southwestern/Frewsburg 6
JAMESTOWN, NY – A late-game surge saw the Gators pick up their second win of the season over the Trojans.
Through the first half of play, neither team could find a way to break through, each stalling out before crossing the plane. However, in the third, A-L struck gold. Receiving a punt, Greg Peck put the Gators on the scoreboard with a 68-yard return back to the house. Although Southwestern eventually countered, A-L stumped their subsequent 2-point-conversion before their defense held strong for the win.
Bradford 24, Coudersport 22
COUDERSPORT, PA – Traveling to see the Falcons, the Owls narrowly picked up their first win of the season.
Brockway 27, Port Allegany 12
BROCKWAY, PA – Unable to unlock their offense for the first time all season, the Gators finally met their match, dropping their first game of the season to the Rovers.
Although Brockway managed to find a way to the endzone early, scoring in the first four minutes of the contest, Port was held firmly at bay, going scoreless through the first half and deep into the third. By the time they managed to break the seal, they looked up at a 14-6 lead which quickly ballooned to double-digits with a flurry of Rover touchdowns in the fourth.
Kellen Veilleux ended with 137 receiving yards and one touchdown, catching ten of Brennan Fillhart’s 16 completed passes that garnered 224 passing yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Veilleux also came away with a team-high 82 rushing yards in the loss.
The Gators will look to bounce back next week against Bradford at Parkway Field at 7 p.m.
