BRADFORD, PA – Another dominant scoring performance from Alyssa Mangold saw the Bradford girl’s soccer team tack on another win to their season, beating Brookville 6-0.
Mangold was one of three Lady Owls to find the back of the net in the win, scoring a team-high three while Karissa Chamberlain came away with a pair of goals and one assist. Reese Rosendahl also scored during the win, while Rory Hollebeke, Miley Swanson, Austyn Douglass and Alexis Kicior all registered assists.
Bradford now improves to 4-2 on the year and will next see DuBois on the road on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Portville 5, Genesee Valley 2
GENESEE VALLEY, NY – After scoring just one goal in the first two games, the Panthers finally notched their inaugural win of the season with an offensive eruption over the Jaguars.
Allie Bray and Grace Gariepy both found the back of the net twice, with Gariepy also registering an assist in the win. Anna Faulkner also scored once while Quinn Scott came away with an assist.
“After struggling offensively early in the season, we made some personnel and information adjustments to get some more opportunities,” said Portville head coach Mike Matz. “The girls were able to capitalize.”
Elk County Catholic 4, Port United 0
ST. MARYS, PA – Unable to stave off the ECC, the Lady Gators fall back to 0.500 on the season, sitting at 3-3.
Port’s Dana Clark tended the net on the night, coming away with 18 saves.
Looking ahead, Port will face Punxsutawney on Saturday at 9 a.m.
Boy’s Soccer
Salamanca 5, Pine Valley-Gowanda 0
SOUTH DAYTON, NY – Carried to the finish line with a flurry of goal scorers, the Warriors kept their undefeated streak alive with a road win over the Panthers.
Calumn Farnum broke the ice early, scoring his first goal of the season in the fifth minute. Keeping Pine Valley at bay, Easton Chudy added to the lead 15 minutes later, punching in a goal that was quickly followed by a third Salamanca score from Andrew McCormick.
Entering the break up by a bunch, the Warriors doubled-down with another Chudy shot in the 41st minute and a finalizer from Darren Hayes in the 74th.
Chudy ended with two goals, while Farnum came away with one assist. Drew Clayson, Alexzander Milk and Andrew Gifford all also tallied assists in the Warriors’ third consecutive win.
Salamanca’s streak will be put to the test on Wednesday, when they host Portville at 6:30 p.m.
Jamestown 3, Olean 1
JAMESTOWN, NY – Falling behind early, the Huskies were unable to spark a comeback, dropping to 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in CCAA Division I play.
Olean found themselves in a hole almost immediately, with the Red & Green’s Nias Rivera netting the first of the night in just 34 seconds. After scoring once more right before the end of the half, Jamestown built a cushion in the second, pulling ahead 3-0 in the 55th minute.
Olean, on the other hand, found their lone goal late, with Connor Hogle scoring in the 68th minute off an assist from Ethan Woodring.
The Huskies will stay in league play for their next match, taking on Fredonia at home on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Allegany-Limestone 2, Southwestern 0
ALLEGANY, NY – Coming away with a clean sheet victory, the Gators collected their first league win of the season and improved to 2-1 overall.
A-L returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Dunkirk at 7 p.m.
Randolph 3, Portville 2
RANDOLPH, NY – A narrow loss on the road saw the Panthers fall to 0-2-1 on the season.
Portville’s season-opening road trip will continue on Wednesday when they travel to face Salamanca at 6:30 p.m.
Volleyball
Bradford 3, Port Allegany 0
BRADFORD, PA – Playing in front of their home fans, the Lady Owls sent Port back home with a loss.
Haley Keane ended with 16 kills, five aces and three blocks, followed by Emma Pilon with five kills and three digs and Aliya Corignani with three kills, two aces and 22 assists.
Otto-Eldred 3, Oswayo Valley 0
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA – The Lady Terrors kept their unblemished season intact as they breezed by OV in three sets, winning 25-6, 25-12 and 25-23.
Rayel Hakes led O-E with 20 kills and seven blocks, also registering six digs in the win, while Emma Button came away with 20 assists. Jahden Smith finished with seven aces and five kills, followed by Ayla Van Scoter with 10 kills and five digs.
Girl’s Tennis
Salamanca 5, Jamestown 0
LAKEWOOD, NY – Sweeping another opponent, the Warriors improved to 2-0 in league play as they dominated the Red & Green.
Betsy Leyva (6-2, 6-0) and Kurryn Glowacki (6-1, 6-3) took care of business in the first and second singles, while the duos of Sage Huff and Amilia McComber (6-1, 6-1), Keira Bova and Fiona McKune (6-1, 6-1), and Ella Crouse and Brenda Bova-Redeye all swept through the doubles matches.
Swimming
Salamanca 90, Southwestern/Jamestown 90, Draw
Despite the tie, the Warriors saw 15 swimmers set personal bests against the Trojans.
Among those top performers was Kyla Hardy (50 free), Aryan Thomas (50 free, 100 free), Annabel LeRoy (100 free, 200 free), Laila Reitnauer (50 free and 100 free) and Callie LeRoy (100 free and 500 free).
Salamanca now sits at 2-1-1 on the season.
