Patricia Button, devoted wife and loving mother
Bolivar – Patricia Button passed away Sunday (August 9, 2026) at Olean General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Patricia was born on July 5, 1949, the daughter of Mary (Champlain) Lananger and Charles Lananger Sr. She went on to marry Leon David Button on July 14, 2014.
Patricia worked for the Farnsworth Cookie Factory in Cuba. She was a social member of the Bolivar Fire Department.
She is survived by her husband, David; sons, Otto McGavisk, Danny (Penny) McGavisk and Howard (Debra) Smith; daughter, Cynthia (Billy) Smith; siblings, Joyce (Oscar) Gaines, Jean Stives and Steve (Donna) Lananger.
Patricia was predeceased by son, Timothy McGavisk; daughter, Teresa Bennett; brothers, Thomas Lananger; Jimmy Lananger, Charles (Sonny) Lananger; sisters, Geraldine Cook and Beverly Lananger.
Family will hold a celebration of life on Saturday (August 15, 2026) at the Richburg Fire Clubhouse at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Richburg Fire Department, 277 Main St., Richburg, N.Y. 14774.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean.
