ALLEGANY — The Allegany Rescue and EMS will host an open house Saturday from 1-6 p.m.
The Open House at Allegany Rescue and EMS, 117 E. Main St., will include tours of the building, blood pressure screening, CRP races, basket raffles and free hotdogs.
Construction on the $1.5 million, L-shaped headquarters began just over two years ago on the hill between the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse and St. Bonaventure Cemetery — the site of the original motherhouse. It contains 5,800 square feet of space for training, storage and bays for the Rescue and EMS vehicles.
Jim O’Brien, president of the Allegany Rescue and EMS board of directors invited the community to Saturday’s open house.
The non-profit ambulance and rescue service serves Allegany, Humphrey and St. Bonaventure University.

Allegany Rescue and EMS had outgrown its site in the former Allegany Fire Hall on North First Street, across from the new fire hall.
Allegany Rescue and EMS has answered nearly 9,800 calls since it was formed in 2010.
