Marlene J. Winship, 90, of Salamanca, NY died Monday evening, August 3, 2026 at Olean General Hospital following a long illness.
Born August 26, 1935 in Great Valley, NY, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mildred Hale Mohr. She was married in 1955 in Salamanca to Rodney Winship, who predeceased her in 1968. She then spent 48 years with her companion, Jack L. Feichter, who predeceased her in 2018.
Marlene was a graduate of Salamanca High School.
She had been the owner and operator of EB Mohr Disposal, taking over from her father. She had also done office work and bookkeeping for several doctor’s offices and hospitals, and had been the bookkeeper for her son Bruce’s business until last year.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spent several years devoted to visiting her son, Brian. She enjoyed horses, watching horseracing and old Westerns, driving through the State Park, and going to county fairs. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
Surviving are: a daughter, Tina Irwin; a son, Bruce (Catherine Shinners) Winship, both of Salamanca, NY; four grandchildren, Mindy Winship, Darin (Lisa) Winship, Jon (Victoria) Winship, Kevin (Jackie) Winship; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Joni Winship, son, Brian Winship, and grandson, Oliver Winship, and a sister, Colleen Mohr.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 1 – 3 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held with Rev. Michael Trenchard officiating.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
